Resumen

¿Quo vadis?, es una pregunta que presupone un “¿de dónde vienes?” y un “¿a dónde vas?” dialéctico para poder determinar la dirección y el objetivo de un camino, de un proceso histórico que en este caso es la liberación y emancipación de África, el único futuro que vale ser llamado un porvernir auténtico. En este sentido, este
artículo examina el futuro y la esperanza que le queda -o no- al maltratado continente africano, emprendiendo para tales fi nes un corto viaje trans-histórico que lleva al lector al pasado prehistórico y precolonial de África mostrándole las huellas de un todavía auténtico porvenir africano que luego fue truncado brutalmente por la
invasión del colonizador europeo y las consecuencias nefastas de la colonización. Palabras clave: África, estudios africanos, civilizaciones africanas,

Abstract

Quo vadis is a question that presupposes a “whither comest though” and a “whither goest thou”, where are you coming from, and where are you going to, dialectically interrelated so as to be able to determine the direction and objective of a path, of a historical process which, in this case, is the liberation and emancipation of Africa, the only kind of future which is worth its name. In this sense, this article examines
the future and the hope that still remains – or not – for the maltreated African continent, undertaking a short trans-historic journey in which the reader is taken
to Africa’s prehistoric and precolonial past and where he is shown the traces of a then still possible, authentic African future. Th is possible future had later become
brutally truncated by the invasion of the European colonizer and the nefarious consequences of colonization.
